Kandel Berry, wife and mom of two now adult children was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland where she attended Western College Preparatory School and Towson University. After a career as a Micro-Sanitary Analysts/Entomologist at McCormick Spice Company, Kandel moved to Appomattox VA to live closer to her parents. Because of her love for children, Kandel took a position as a child care provider which filled a tremendous void and satisfied her craving to care for children. After hearing an interview on Equip FM about how to become a CASA Volunteer, Kandel reached out to CASA and completed her volunteer training in 2018. After being assigned her first case, she knew being a voice for children whose lives have been turned upside down was what she wanted to do. Kandel served as a CASA Volunteer in Appomattox for 15 months, a role which had become very important to her. When the Campbell County/Appomattox Advocate Manager position became available she interviewed and accepted the position. Kandel is committed to seeking what’s in the “best interest” of each child. She is very active in her church and community where she serves as a Sunday school teacher and manages a food pantry. In her spare time, Kandel enjoys gardening, listening to music and reading.
