"Serving this board has been an amazing journey where I have worked with so many different people in the community with very different backgrounds who come together for one unified purpose: to ensure abused and neglected children have an advocate.

My name is Bethany Harrison and I am the Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Lynchburg. I am from Chesterfield County, Virginia.  I graduated undergrad from UVA then attended law school at the University of Alabama.  It was during law school that I determined it was my calling to be a prosecutor.  Being a prosecutor allows me to be a voice for victims of crime.

A natural extension of that calling was to join the board of CASA. As a prosecutor, I work in court to hold offenders accountable for crimes against children. Being on the CASA board allows me to help with the other side of assisting abused and neglected children. The civil side of court determines where a child will be placed and what services will be provided.  I have served on the CASA board for 3 1/2 years and am currently on my second term as Board President.

Serving this board has been an amazing journey where I have worked with so many different people in the community with very different backgrounds who come together for one unified purpose: to ensure abused and neglected children have an advocate.  For the remainder of my term with the organization, I hope to see expansion of services to areas in our region without CASA advocates.
