Board Spotlight: Berkley Holston

My name is Berkley Holston. I was born and raised in Lynchburg. I’ve lived all over the country, Washington, DC, New Orleans, LA, Boulder, CO and Miami, Florida, but Lynchburg is by far my favorite place and I’ve been back home since 2005. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and work at Horizon Behavioral Health as the Clinical Coordinator at the Campbell County Wellness Center in Rustburg. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters in Community Psychology. It was during my graduate studies that I was called to help children, adolescents and their families who are faced with many challenging problems.

At Horizon Behavioral Health, I work every day with children, adolescents and adults with serious mental health issues. Many of these children have suffered the trauma of neglect, sexual, physical, emotional abuse, witnessed domestic violence or community violence.  I often support these children and their families in court during custody issues as well as criminal cases when victims face their abusers in the court system. I have had the opportunity to work alongside CASA advocates many times and find their service essential to the well-being of children who have been victimized by a wide range of abuse. This is why becoming a CASA Board Member was a natural fit for me and I’m honored to be able to serve our community by working with CASA to further their mission to advocate for abused and neglected children.
